History of Flotilla 10-09
The Hampstead Flotilla 10-09 was chartered on
November 6, 1992. In the beginning, there were only 18
members. Some would say there were more Chiefs
than Indians in the group since a typical flotilla
at that time required 12 officers. Since then, the organization
has grown to 40 in size; still small, but capable of caring
out the same duties afforded by much larger units.

Area served by Flotilla 10-09
The members, by in-large, are from the communities of
Hampstead,
Scotts Hill and the Topsail Island area. The patrol
area that 10-09 is responsible for
runs along the Intercoastal
Waterway from the Figure 8 Island
bridge to the Surf City Bridge.
Functions provided by Flotilla 10-09
The flotilla carries out all the functions required for
maintaining
boating safety, supporting the local Coast Guard unit at
Wrightsville
Beach, educating the public and providing environmental
protection
of our waterways. In addition to carrying out official Auxiliary
functions, there is
always time
for fun and fellowship.
